PERSONALITY
- MOTHERLY: Applewhisker has a real soft spot for the kittens and apprentices of the clan and will often go out of her way to talk to them and see if they are okay.
- JUDGEMENTAL: if she sees someone doing something, she will instantly develop an opinion on them and it is hard for this opinion to be changed.
- THOUGHTFUL: she likes to think of others before herself and will put their needs before her own - if they need a drink and she is hungry she will gladly get them a drink and eat afterwards.
- STRICT: she is a strict follower of the warrior code and if somebody breaks a rule, Applewhisker will make sure that they are spoken to about it so that it will not happen again.
- INTELLIGENT: when it comes to thinking up ideas and suggesting things for the clan, it doesn't usually take that long for Applewhisker to come up with one, though she often will think a lot about them so that they make sense.
- BLUNT: if you ask for Applewhisker's opinion then you are going to get just that. She doesn't try to sugar coat it or anything and will say it just how she sees it.
- HONEST: when Applewhisker knows she has done something wrong and she is questioned about it, Applewhisker will always admit to this and accept any punishment that she may receive. She doesn't think lying will get her anywhere and that lying will probably just make her punishment even worse - she'll get caught out sometime so what's the point in delaying in?
- BAD TEMPERED: it is very rare that you will find Applewhisker in the best of moods and when she is angry then it is best to avoid her as the littlest of things might irritate her and it will take her a while to be calmed down. She does not mean to get so mad but sometimes she just wants to be left alone. With cats coming up to you all day, some peace and quiet is nice.
- LOVING: when you get close to Applewhisker, she can be the most loving cat out there. Maybe she'll snap, maybe she'll shout, but she doesn't mean a word she says and no matter how much she and her loved ones argue, she dotes on them and only thinks in their best interests.
- CLINGY: whilst you might not think this from the rest of her personality, Applewhisker can be a little clingy and often sticks to her friends sides.
HISTORY
- The two were destined to be together from the start, because Cinderkit and Hornetkit were practically inseparable. Their parents were all friends with each other and the two litters played with each other and referred to each other as the best of friends. Being just two moons older than Hornetkit, Cinderkit was upset when she had to get her apprentice name and he was still in the nursery. In fact, some days she let him 'sneak' out of camp with her, where she would show him what she had learned the day previous and would show him where the best prey hid. Because out of all of them, he was her absolute best friend and if she had to pick out of all of them who she would hang out with, it was him.
- When they were both warriors, they were even closer and when it came to hunting together, they made a great team. Together they caught some of the biggest pieces of prey and when they were praised, they would both become extremely embarrassed and look away. Other cats had already started to say by this time that they would get together and whilst they denied it, both of them did actually want to be with each other. So when Hornetwhisker confessed his feelings to Cindernose, she was delighted.
- It was about seven moons later when Cindernose discovered she was pregnant at twenty-ninety moons old. She had been feeling sick one morning and had gone to the medicine cat where she discovered that she had kits growing inside of her. Hornetwhisker could not believe that they were about to become parents and the two of them promised to try and be the greatest parents ever known. Soon, she gave birth to two she-cats and one tom - they were named Cedarkit, Fallowkit and Applekit.
- Right from the start the three of them were loved dearly and fussed over. The moment they would leave the nursery and go out into the camp, Cindernose would be telling them to be careful and checking up on them every couple of moments. Hornetwhisker would sit proudly to the side of the camp and watch them as they explored, impressed by how tall the trees grew and by how big the warriors were, about triple the size that they had been expecting. Often did they argue, with Cedarkit saying that he would become leader one day and Applekit telling him no, she'd be leader (by this point Fallowkit would be wailing, begging them to stop fighting) and usually Applekit would pretend to fight with him just to wind the youngest of the three up. However, all of this changed when they became apprentices.
- Applepaw was assigned to a fairly old she-cat going by the name of Mousefoot. She was close to retirement and had decided before she did that she would mentor one last apprentice whilst she still could. Right from the start Mousefoot told her that she would not take any back chat and as long as she behaved then the two of them would get on. There were a couple of times when Applepaw did cause trouble but as she grew older, this became less frequent. Meanwhile, Applepaw watched Fallowpaw and her mentor struggle to stop arguing; this worried her a lot but when she questioned her sister about, she just got shouted at and told to stop getting involved. It seemed after a while that although they weren't the best of friends, the constant bickering stopped and Fallowpaw could begin to learn again - a massive relief to both Applepaw and Cedarpaw. Eventually the day rolled around that the three could become warriors and it is a day that Applewhisker could never forget.
- A couple of days after the ceremony, the family was hit with very sad news. Whilst both of Hornetwhisker's parents had already passed away before the kits had been born, Cindernose's mother Dappleleg was killed by a badger and her mate Stonefang was absolutely heartbroken. He would not speak to any of them for days and he drank and ate very little, going out of camp every day and not returning until it was time to sleep. Applestep, Cedarfur and Fallowcloud eventually followed him out one day, though he snapped at everyone else he could never shout at his wonderful grandchildren. They managed to persuade him to talk to them all and let them be there for him. Whilst even today he still pines for his mate, he now expresses his sadness by speaking fondly of her and talking about how perfect she was.
- It was many moons later when Starlingkit was born to Hornetwhisker's sister Maplepelt and her mate Alderstripe. It turned out that Maplepelt had decided not to tell anyone about her pregnancy in case they all started to baby her, which she really didn't want and when the medicine cat walked out of the nursery exclaiming she had given birth to one she-kit, everybody in the family was shocked and annoyed with themselves. How could they not tell she was expecting? It seemed so obvious looking back but all they could was support the mother from now on. Maplepelt had family pouring in to look at her single daughter and she made no attempt to hide the fact that she was loving this attention. Applestep found herself getting along with her cousin very well and they would play all sorts of games. She quickly learned that mossball was Starlingkit's absolute favorite and she would often look up to find Maplepelt watching her, making sure she didn't hurt her kitten at all.
- Starlingpaw soon became an apprentice, assigned to Applewhisker herself, but at seven moons old, her training had to be delayed when both she, her mother and another warrior grew sick with greencough. Maplepelt's bout of it was the worst and just two days of having the illness, the she-cat joined StarClan and left her family wishing she could have been saved. Yet Starlingpaw recovered and whilst her illness has weakened her and the passing of her mother has left her heartbroken, she is determined to make Maplepelt proud of her and always will be.
- For the next while, Applewhisker made it her duty to watch over her father and make sure that he was doing okay. She would make sure he would talk to her as she didn't want him to become the same way as Stonefang, feeling that he could not speak to anybody about his grief. He would thank her a lot and to this day he reminds her of how grateful he is.
- When Shadowstar lost his last life and Branchstar became leader, Applewhisker felt truly broken. She had already lost so many and she didn't want to lose anybody else. She became scared that everybody was going to leave her and she would stay awake at night, worrying. The added fact that she had been appointed as deputy did not help but eventually her grief just made her love for everybody in her clan, whether family or simply a clanmate, current and past, grow stronger and it grows stronger still.
