CYCLONESTAR of WHISPERCLAN
35 MOONS • LEADER
TOM • ASEXUAL
SHORT DESCRIPTION
grey and white tom with pale green eyes.
PERSONALITY
- Typically, Cyclonestar is seen as a quiet cat. He doesn’t say a whole lot unless he needs to, often preferring silence over chatter any day.
- Somewhat secretive, he doesn’t like being in a limelight, and while in his younger moons tended to be rather ignored, these days it is a choice to remain in the shadows until he’s required.
- A calculating individual, he thinks a lot, and in a rather abstract way. He doesn’t seem to come to the same conclusions as others sometimes, ones that might seem logical.
- Due to this, he can be rather unpredictable. He takes everything situation by situation, and often shows traces of being impulsive, even if that is not quite the truth.
- Yep, he is a single-minded creature. Once he’s focused on something that is all he’ll think about. Other issues can wait. However, it also means that when someone has wronged him, Cyclonestar will think on it for moons, and tends to go on about the same thing for just as long.
- By his very nature, he is not a forgiving creature. Once something has happened, he is unforgiving, and can hold a grudge till his dying breath. Very little can redeem a cat after that.
- Cyclonestar is well known for being a calculating individual. Strategic in the face of battle and in guiding his clan through their harsh territory, it was this that had a strong part to play in his quick rise to power.
- Along with this, his skillful hunting abilities and introduction of a new hunting technique to the clan earned him the name of a prodigy within WhisperClan, with many expecting him to continue to guide the clan through the hardest times.
- Perhaps stronger still is his loyalty to WhisperClan. With Tornadostar’s betrayal in turning to CurrentClan, and the loss of Firewhirl, it has only made him focus more on his clan and what they can do to bind together in their harsh terrain. Nothing matters to him more than serving his clan, and protecting them with his very life.
- His quiet nature has Cyclonestar an advantage in that he is far from a blunt cat. He picks his words carefully, and more than ever, chooses to bite his tongue. He would rather hold onto his thoughts and feelings till they were absolutely needed, even if this adds to his bottling emotions issues.
- He has a remarkably slow temper. One that builds and builds, lots of things adding up, and like his namesake, slowly forming and building up, until they hit land with a slam.
- When he does crack, and hit his peak, like his brother, he’s known for his explosive, violent temper. It is destructive of all those in his way, and those associated with them. When he snaps, all of WhisperClan feel it, and by no means is it a slow affair. His temper storms can last for a least three days, sometimes up to two weeks, depending on the severity, and all those around him can do is take shelter. He’s well known for dealing out stricter punishments than usual if caught in one of these times.
- That isn’t the end of it however. He is a vengeful cat. When he has been wronged, not only will he go on about it for moons, not only will he hold a grudge. But he will actively go out of his way to get back at the perpetrator.
- The worst thing a cat can do, is anger him further in this state. It doesn’t take much to work him back up to a peak when he’s in these zones, and he’s well known to loop back and take down the same cat twice. While it will die down eventually, provoking him will never end well.
- It does settle eventually, and while he’ll never apologise, he will help to rebuild anything he’s destroyed, and return to his normal self. He is a bit too prideful to full admit he was wrong. It is a rare thing to find this tom apologizing for anything.
- When his proper self, he is a surprisingly tolerant and patient cat. WhisperClan’s safety will always come above the code, and in turn, he’s already known for having more of a heart for taking in outsiders and being lenient on cats who do think about forbidden romances. Maybe it’s due to his brother’s defecting from the clan, but, he does have a surprising soft spot.
- On top of that, the cat that the clan call leader, the one that they respect, if not fear a little, is a gentle cat. While serious in all respects, he doesn’t do rough and tumble, and is well known to lie with any member of the clan whenever.
HISTORY
- Firekit, Tornadokit and Cyclonekit were born on a blistery day on the mountain to Hurricanewind and Typhoontail, and quickly the kits established themselves to be a storm of trouble, just like their parents had been.
- Each brother had their element, Tornadokit loud and domineering, Firekit sharp and serious, and Cyclonekit… well he tended to be the one that his parents put in the background, as his brother tore up the nursery and commanded their attention whenever the busy pair were in the nursery. Kit sitters were often taken up by Tornadokit’s havoc and Firekit’s demand for knowledge.
- It left Cyclonekit spending a lot of time in his own thoughts, and while he did command attention, it did wear on him, an early bubble of pain and upset at the situation building, even if he never showed it. Instead, he focused on himself, and practicing his balancing and hunting moves in the background.
- Yet, Tornadokit was his brother, his best friend. He followed him anywhere, the follower to the tom’s leader. Even if one incident, where an adventure along the jagged path almost killed, when they lost footing, and Tornadokit toppled toward the endless pit below, only saved by Cyclonekit’s quick thinking.
- They were rescued by a returning patrol, and had their apprentice ceremony delayed for going out on their own, but, it just led to more trouble, as Tornadokit cursed the very ground they walked on.
- The more he went on about it, the more it grinded on the then Cyclonepaw’s nerves. WhisperClan was their home. So they lived on a cliff, they needed to embrace it, the same way their family had for generations. He kept these thoughts to himself.
- However, it had him focusing harder on his training, learning to battle on the thin edges and sharp declines, and hunt equally on them. In many ways, he thrived on the edge there, even when he was training by himself because his mentor forgot about a training session, again. Truth be told, the ignoring issue hadn’t gotten any better with age. Especially from their parents.
- The one cat he had, was Tornadopaw. Okay he was harsh, loud, brash and drove Cyclonepaw up the wall, but, he was his brother, they understood each other. Or at least, that was what Cyclonepaw thought. They just had to beat the territory, to become more, to become something worthwhile.
- Tornadopaw convinced Cyclonepaw one moon to go to the border at moonhigh, sneaking out of camp and down the decline, right to the CurrentClan border. However, Cyclonepaw didn’t like it. They needed to go home, he didn’t like the way Tornadopaw was talking, and then, as they reached the border, the truth came out. Tornadopaw wanted them to leave for CurrentClan.
- All Cyclonepaw could do was stare. Did he have bees in his brain? WhisperClan was their home, their clan! It was another snap decision that Tornadopaw was doing on a whim, and it was too far for Cyclonepaw. He was not betraying his clan on a temper tantrum.
- Then, Tornadopaw left. He crossed the border, and ran off. Cyclonepaw stood at the border, and he waited. He waited till dawn. As he did each night for the next moon. Training all day, then when he could barely support himself, waiting at the border. Tornadopaw would cut out the act eventually.
- Only, he didn’t. After a moon, it sunk in. He wasn’t coming back. He was either dead, or chased out, or maybe he did join CurrentClan. How would they know? Cyclonepaw was at a loss. And suddenly, sharply, he threw himself into his training.
- He worked hard, showing his natural speed, strength, mind, creating a new hunting technique for WhisperClan to get large bird of prey that got too close that involved a particular way of leaping and baiting.
- Just before he turned eleven moons, for this achievement that was quickly taught within the clan, he was named a warrior, Cyclonestep.
- He gained his first apprentice at the age of twelve moons. A young tom by the name of Mousepaw, given to him due to his skill and the lack of any other older warriors after a sudden burst of kits. They meshed well, both of similar personality and temperament, and Mousepaw excelled.
- He was taken to the gathering at the age of 13 moons, and much to his surprise, Tornadopaw was there. With CurrentClan. Cyclonestep almost couldn’t believe it. But… the tom avoided him completely, sticking with the CurrentClan patrol.
- The moment they returned to camp was the first time that Cyclonestep’s temper broke. In an almighty storm of snarl and crashing, he practically torn apart the warrior’s den in anger. How could he. He didn’t tell them he was alive, he betrayed them. He turned traitor. The storm and his mood lasted three days, before finally, it started to ease.
- He helped repair the warrior’s den, and took punishment in cleaning the elder’s den for a moon. But Oh he didn’t stop going on about it. Firewhirl tried to ease him, but, it didn’t help. He threw himself into training Mousepaw harder than ever.
- Mousepaw became Mousetail when he was 10 moons old, and Cyclonestep was 16 moons. Quickly, as more attention focused on the young warrior, he was starting to be called a young prodigy for the clan. His skills were that of cats twice his age, his maturity and strategic prowess all gaining him a lot of respect.
- He had his second apprentice soon after, this time a she-cat called Sparrowpaw. In five moons, she was Sparrownose. Time moved quickly. Cyclonestep helped advance warrior self-training, and with the continued advancement of battle techniques and hunting techniques.
- At 24 moons, Cyclonestep was named deputy, when the former deputy Cragsnap stepped down and retired to the elder’s den. The clan rejoiced, and he immediately took it in his stride.
- Three moons later, at the gathering, in what was his first time talking to Tornadopaw, no, Tornadoroar since his departure, it came as a surprise that the tom was deputy for his new clan. A good surprise though, and even if he didn’t say much as others told of Cyclonestep’s own successes, he was proud of his brother. Tornadoroar had made something of himself.
- At 31 moons, they had a rogue intrusion. In the rush out of camp to deal with the issue, Firewhirl had slipped on the jagged path and fallen to his death. An accident at the worst time. That batter saw Rockstar’s death as well, and travelling to the Mist-caves, Cyclonestep became Cyclonestar.
- That gathering, he approached Tornadoroar, determined to tell him of the accident. Not that he expected the tom to care. His brother was… barely contained in his anger, even Cyclonestar could see that. But he didn’t pay it any mind, turning his attention back toward his clan. He wanted to protect them, and to do that, he had to turn his back on Tornadoroar. He had to think on the present and those who were loyal to their home.
- The next moons, Tornadoroar was Tornadostar, and Cyclonestar hated the triumph in his brother’s eyes. Was this really the same tom he’d known? One that was happy his leader was dead? That was happy to be leader, even at the cats who had died due to it? In a flood no less? It infuriated him. He had no time for a cat who had ambition that would lead to more death.
- He barely held himself together, returning to the came, calmed slightly by Mousetail and Sparrownose’s gentle words, and that of his deputy. WhisperClan would succeed, and they would eventually show CurrentClan that they were not worth anything.
