TOM • BISEXUAL
SHORT DESCRIPTION
large, long-legged golden brown spotted tom with green eyes.
PERSONALITY
- There’s no doubt that Bearthroat is a cat who knows his position in the clan, and lives up to what’s expected in him in the best fashion he can. Confident within himself and his abilities, he drives for the better of the clan in whatever way he can, and stands as a leadership figure with the experience and compassion that they expect from him.
- A friendly cat, he’s certainly not the type of warrior who shies away from knowing his clan. From the tiniest kit to the grumpiest warrior, he’s shove his way into everyone’s life and make a mark.
- Known for his social tendencies and laugh, he’s a cat who speaks freely and openly to all those who come for him, and in many ways wears is heart clear for all RunningClan cats to see.
- He’s a cat who likes others and being in conversation with them, and does have an incredible way with other cats and staying on their good side, both with his words, and doing the best in his actions to take in the situation.
- Quite a cheerful tom, he likes to look to the future and has high hopes and expectations about where he wants to be and why, along with whatever he can do to push the clan to the next level.
- In general, it's easy to talk to him about it too, he has absolutely no qualms about sharing his thoughts with those around him, especially in times where opinions are needed in order to make the best possible choice for those around him.
- Somewhat playful, he can quickly turn into a bit of a joking lug when in the right company, quite happy to tussle and play around with other cats in the name of winding down and generally having fun.
- It doesn’t help there is a strong jokester within the large tom, and he has no hesitation about teaming up with kits to get a point across to some warrior who won’t take the message to back off.
- Understand though, this mostly comes through in his free time, which isn't something he seeks out to have. When it comes to his clan, duties and serving, Bearthroat is completely focused and dedicated to the cause. Loyal to his bone, he point blank refuses to do anything that isn't in RunningClan's best interest, and wouldn't change sides for the life of his. All his loyalty is to his clan, and to his closest friends. He knows the warrior code, and he knows what he needs to do to be the strongest, most beneficial leader to the clan, and sticks to that like glue.
- In many ways, he's stubborn. If he makes mistakes or believes something's his fault, he'll stick to that and hang onto it with all his might and make sure he can redeem himself, or be the one to hold the blame for it.
- Determined in the face of a challenge, he'll follow through an event from start to finish and do his very best, no matter what's going on.
- Bearthroat overall, is an incredibly protective feline when it comes to what he loves, his friends, his clan, if it’s under threat, he'll protect it to his own death.
- Yet, he is an opinionated cat. Make no mistake about that. He makes his decisions carefully, but he makes them without hesitation. He’ll take the words of others on board, but he stands with his chest puffed out and too stubborn to back down from changing a plan once it has been decided.
- He tolerates no talking back., no disrespect from those who serve the clan, and holds the warrior code in the highest regard. Bearthroat is certainly not a warrior who is known to give many allowances to those who break the code, especially if that code breaking goes well and beyond the clan.
- To those beyond the borders, however, Bearthroat is a cat who can be quite intimidating. With a sharp stare and decent size to him, he stands as he was always told to, shoulders back and not bowing to anyone, and is quick to be silent and judging of those who dare go near him.
- In battle, he can be a bit of a bully, pushing and shoving his way through a fight and making smaller cats duck before him, certainly playing on the dirty side, even if he refuses to kill.
- While he can usually keep a cool head, when his clan is under threat, he's quick to anger. He doesn't tolerate anyone bad-mouthing them or making them feel any less of themselves, and when it comes down to it, he'll use tooth and claw to make his point and get others to stand back.
- Despite being an overly large cat, especially for a RunningClan cat, there's nothing overly threatening about him at first to those who call RunningClan home. At times, his honesty can be his downfall, in both exposing his emotions to the world, all the frustration and sadness, and likeliness to lash out, and in giving away too much of what he plans and hitting sore spots in cats who push too much.
- Yet, almost as importantly, he’s a humble and earnest cat, not recognising that he's any more talented in fighting than any other cat, and is quick to point out the better factors in all his close allies, something he believe in completely.
- That isn't to say he isn't a proud cat, oh no, he has full confidence in himself and what he can do, and he certainly won't act like he can't do anything. He knows he capable and sticks to that, and can be a little bit bad to react when other cats are the ones talking down his abilities, rather than himself.
- However he is a flawed cat. He’s quick to judge, and quick to be too trusting of his own instincts and abilities. Bearthroat is a cat who often over-extends himself, and through his nosiness often makes enough cats uncomfortable to get himself pushed out of their business.
- His strictness to the warrior code means even in love he has no tolerance, often earning him the accusation of being heartless when he stands strong on agreement of the punishment of a cat who decides to join in a forbidden relationship.
- His bluntness and sharpness in the face of conflict, and quickness to show his emotions to any cat leaves him open to ridicule and certainly to be taken advantage of, and he rears up quickly in response to personal attacks, even if it doesn’t destroy his trust.
HISTORY
- Bearkit and Maplekit were born the first litter of Volewhisker and Birchclaw, two dedicated and fine RiverClan warriors, who with time decided to have kits together. The family was relatively close from the very start, and Bearkit never felt anything but loved from the first days.
- They were a moon old when Flamekit, Hollykit and Goldkit joined the world, and Bearkit looked on with curiosity as they were moved from their mother to Volewhisker. Of course, he had to ask questioning about the whole deal, and most of the time got shushed, at least until Fawnwhisper passed away. Then, it became clear that the three younger kits were staying close by them permanently. Not that Bearkit minded all that much.
- In the same space of time, another tom was born in the form of Stagkit. Yet, his beginning was also shrouded in tragedy, another queen to die in kitting and leave their kit in the care of another. It was a sad time in the nursery, that was for certain. Yet, Bearkit tried his best to conquer that, and immediately sought to befriend the lone kit as soon as he was walking and seeing.
- The two bonded quickly, forming a steadyfast friendship that was much more balanced that his chaotic tumbling with Flamekit, or games with Maplekit. With Stagkit, it was always different. They were equals, driven on early by a competitive streak that had their games a lot more serious, and their thoughts focused on a goal.
- For Bearkit, that was assisted by the words of Redstar, the leader who took up the reigns of the clan around his time of birth. It felt like the tom was untouchable, a strong, immovable force driving RunningClan forward. He was lucky enough to spend time with the leader directly, coached into sitting and standing strongly, and encouraged in his ambitions. That was enough to drive the young tom into trying to replicate the leader’s image. He wanted to be that cat one day.
- Maplekit and Bearkit became apprentices, leaving their cousins and Stagkit behind for one more moon, and while disappointing, it was unavoidable. Yet, training offered a completely new outlook on life. His mentor was a quiet, somewhat timid tom. Not the most outgoing or the highest skilled cat in the clan. However, he immediately clicked with Bearpaw, and nothing else matter. They were a pair that worked well, Bearpaw’s drive and outgoing nature encouraging comfort in his mentor and what they could do, and he immediately took to training with rigour.
- Stagpaw, Flamepaw, Hollypaw and Goldpaw eventually joined them, and immediately Bearpaw took to showing Stagpaw the ropes, helping him as an additional mentor in ways, to try and speed up his training so they were equal again. Not that it would take long. That was when the dynamic started with switch again, and Bearpaw’s goal became less about being leader, and more about serving. Being the best warrior, the best part of the team, and if anything more, the best deputy to Stagpaw that he could be. After all, that was how they developed, Stagpaw took the lead, and Bearpaw begun to follow.
- Of course, it wasn’t a surprise to anyone what Bearpaw finally decided he had a crush on Stagpaw. Certainly one that wasn’t going away either. He didn’t blab it out to everyone, but, Hollypaw was one of the few cats who he deemed close enough to discuss it with. In many ways, his cousin had become closer to him than his sister had. But, she helped him handle it, keep things to himself and listened she he couldn’t help but sing Stagpaw’s praises.
- Time continued, and as he reached eleven moons, they faced a sudden and big challenge. It came in the form of Bearpaw’s mentor limping into camp, and announcing a patrol had been attacked by rogues on the border, a patrol Stagpaw was in. Bearpaw didn’t hesitant about forcing himself into the back up patrol, as the group raced toward the incident. The rogues didn’t know what hit them when the second patrol arrived, though the first had done plenty to pick down their numbers. Bearpaw’s sights however remained glued to Stagpaw, who’d been isolated from the group. It was reckless and impulsive, but Bearpaw threw himself into the mix, deflecting the attacks from his friend. He paid the price in scars across his shoulder and chest, along with severe damage to one of his hind legs, but, it succeeded in distracting and helping drive off the remaining rogues and Stagpaw and the rest of the patrol took over.
- However, the loss of blood did put his life in danger, and he had to be carried back to camp by other members of the patrol. While the patrol spoke highly of the two apprentices, and Bearpaw’s wounds were seen to, Stagpaw didn’t hesitate to go off the deep end, and scold him for being so stupid and risking his life like that. It would mark a trend in their relationship, especially as Redstar gathered the clan, and gave the two apprentices their warrior names of Bearthroat and Stagleap.
- Of course, that didn’t hinder the fact he spent his first moon as a warrior in the medicine cat’s den. The time did lead to one conclusion though, this his feelings for Stagleap were mutual, the two toms admitting such in between the scolding sessions that the younger warrior felt like giving daily for the long moon.
- Bearthroat didn’t hesitant as soon as he was giving the clearance to start his duties to force Stagleap into a sparring match to get revenge for the month of scolding, much to the other tom’s displeasure as fear of reopening wounds.
- The events would repeat two more times in particular throughout their time as warriors. The first was when the two were training their first apprentices. Siblings from the same litter. A snake had come out of the grass suddenly, and Bearthroat had all but thrown himself on top of the creature as it lunged for Stagleap, getting himself bitten in the process. Thankfully, it was not a highly poisonious kind, and despite more lectures and a few days in the medicine cat’s den, ill, he was back to normal in no time, and Fernpaw’s training was only slightly affected.
- The second event would come not long after Fernwhisker’s warrior ceremony, where during a particularly savage storm, one of the few trees on the territory fell, Bearthroat only just knocking Stagleap out of the way of it before it fell. While that didn’t earn him a trip to the medicine cat’s den, it resulted in lecture enough, something Bearthroat promptly smothered by lying on top of the other tom.
- Eventually, Redstar passed on, a hard experience for Bearthroat, as he watched his role model’s final days. Vixenstar would prove herself an interesting leader, but, he almost paid little attention to it. His interest was more on the naming of Stagleap as deputy. There wasn’t a cat who cheered louder.
