Gray and white she-cat with yellow-green eyes.
PERSONALITY
- Weird - Frecklepaw is an unusual cat for her a variety of reasons in her clan. For one thing she has a plethora of odd theories alongside her devotion to Starclan. Socially, she doesn't quite understand certain cues and cultural no-nos. Her sense of humor can be quite morbid and random as well. Some of her quirks include: talking to herself, staring for too long, and giving people nicknames.
- Insightful - There are more moments, typically in times of distress or uncertainty, where Frecklepaw demonstrates behavior of someone three times her age. Frequently she can come across a bit of space-head, someone who's head is constantly in a state of daydreaming. In retrospect however she occasionally has bursts of wisdom that seems to stem from her creativeness, willingness for change, and her acceptance of all different types of cats. It should be noted that she is not really someone who gives her opinion frequently, she prefers to restrain herself unless she finds it necessary.
- Naive - While intelligent in the form of terminology and facts, the she-cat can be all too trusting and devoted to those in her life. She is someone who desperately longs for friendship, but finds difficulty in developing one. If there is any inclination that you do wish to befriend her, Frecklepaw has a tendency to dive head-first with her heart. Ultimately this can lead to one-sided friendships, as she can come off a bit strong. She is easy to manipulate in this sense, and it is typical of her to be unaware of any kind of danger.
- Adventurous - Frecklepaw's bravery knows no bounds, especially in the scholarly area. She is someone who craves knowledge and understanding, and therefore can be quite experimental. Many cats have been subject to Frecklepaw's experiments, particularly with herbs, as she is always looking for new ways to take care of her clan. The she-cat is also not against breaking some rules, so long as she foresees there is no harm done to her clan. She enjoys exploring her territory as well as testing the waters socially with other cats.
- Weak - Though Frecklepaw does not carry any obvious physical ailments, it has been quite obvious in her earlier years that she doesn't carry any ability in the battling department. She is not typically the violent type either, and can be quite useless when it comes defending herself or others. She seems to forget this at times though, as she is very willing to take on opponents much more capable than her if needed. In addition, Frecklpaw avoids conflict (to her best ability) like a pile of crowfood. Confrontation is not her strong-suit, and as such she can be viewed as someone with weak-will as well.
- Knowledgeable - Frecklepaw showed signs of a promising medicine cat at a young age. She is someone who takes studying to another level and oftentimes can come across as a know-it-all. Her encyclopedia type tendencies have proven useful time and time again however.
- Silly - Second to learning, Frecklepaw takes great joy in making others laugh (sometimes, it just happens naturally given how odd she can be). The she-cat loves to have a good time, and bears a great deal of behavioral quirks; sleep-talking, and a bouncy gait being some of them. She is extremely animated, and sometimes her mood can change drastically as well. With these in mind, Frecklepaw can often be a handful and it is difficult to keep her attention for very long. Though she is more than willing to listen to a friend in need, more often than not she has a hard time taking things seriously. In reflection, it is hard for her to be taken seriously as well.
- Loyal - At the end of the day, Frecklepaw is completely devoted to Whisperclan and her friends. She considers them her family, and would never betray them. While there is some exceptions, she is also devoted to the code as well and her duty as a medicine cat.
- Stubborn- Frecklepaw is someone who will stop at nothing if it means helping someone else. She also highly values what she believes in. The preservation of life seems to be the biggest one, most likely influenced by the death of her mother. Frecklepaw will exhaust herself to her very last portion of energy when it comes to sick or injured cats. She seems to take on a different form of character when it comes to this case, becoming extremely concentrated and determined. Likewise, she is someone who dislikes to be proven wrong when it does come to her beliefs. When enthralled in arguments (which is rare) she will continue arguing even if she is wrong, Rushpaw and Saltstrike the only ones capable of shutting her down. She can be very independent at times of selflessness, refusing to ask for help and oftentimes she overwhelms herself with responsibility.
- Blunt- As a side note, Frecklepaw isn't always rainbows and butterflies - there are certain types of cats that she has little tolerance towards - those who are fake, those who are small minded, and those who she deems of low intelligence. Typically the she-cat is well-deserved of the title of someone who is accepting and non-judgemental. If you have found yourself on her bad side, know that your position was well thought out and decided upon. There is few cats that Frecklepaw dislikes - but the ones she does should not be trusted. She is someone who chooses her battles, but she can be somewhat somewhat of a loose cannon when it comes to certain characters. Her mouth becomes unfiltered, dripping with sarcasm that borderlines outlandish insults. Fortunately this side of her is rare.
HISTORY
- Somehow a stick-in-the-mud tomcat and a flirtatious, playful she-cat fell in love. Saltstrike and Tornwing's (previously known as Cranewing) relationship was an adventure filled one, and it took both quite a long time to admit their feelings for one another. Both fully Clanborn, their linage was pure Mountainclan. Both sides of the family ultimately loyal, and having a tendency to produce strong, fighting efficient offspring. Cranewing gave birth to two kits in newleaf, quite earlier than expected. For that, she named the first kit to show up Rushkit. His sister followed after, and she was named Frecklekit for the markings around her maw. Essentially born with an innocent view of their new world, Frecklekit and her brother were highly unaware of Cranewing's reputation among Mountainclan. How she had broken heart after heart - only to end up with a tom nobody expected. One tom in particular, Pikefang grew bitter overtime.
- As the oldest, Rushkit carried a strong sense responsibility over his sister. Much of Frecklepaw's memory of him involves the tom exploiting her plans of sneaking out of camp and pranking older warriors. One scheme in particular had involved Pikefang, a giant tomcat their parents mentioned occasionally in conversation the kits barely had time to pay attention to all the way. Looking back on it now Frecklepaw would admit the prank wasn't even a good one - the two younglings placing pawfuls and pawfuls of pine needles in the grumpy cat's nest. An earful was given to them when the tom found them sneaking out of the warrior's den, and he seemed to grow twice the size with how much his brown fur had bristled. They might have expected a firm scolding, but certainly not a plethora of insults completely irrelevant to their behavior. Talk of irresponsibility and integrity escalated to mistakes and accidents, how they should have never been born -- and then their mother stepped in. Some would say her white coat was still capable of keeping the tom speechless, but Frecklekit would stand to say it was her eyes, and her pretense. The she stood between her kits and the tom who spoke ill of her and them... she looked as though not even a pack of wolves could cause her move. Silence hovered between the lot, not even a defensive squeak from Rushpaw could be heard. Perhaps though you could hear the kits hearts escalate as the two warriors spoke some sort of language they couldn't understand, because in just a few moments Pikefang huffed, mumbled something under his breath, and walked away.
- Frecklepaw's mother died after a hunting patrol went disastrously wrong. The same hawk they had tried to hunt after took Cranewing, a small cat to begin with, in its talons. Struggling to fight, the warrior managed to break free but fell at a height far enough to leave her with many broken bones when she landed. Pikefang happened to be on the patrol, seeming very reluctant to help carry her body with the other warriors. Brain damage had also left Cranewing with internal bleeding in her skull, which would later cause her death. Saltstrike, alongside his children stayed with Cranewing until her very last breath. She left peaceably, embracing death knowing that her kits would be in good paws.
- Before her death however, Frecklekit in particular seemed the most calm out of all her family members. Focused, would be a better phrase, as she paid careful attention to the medicine cat's efforts. She consistently showed interest with a barrel of questions each day, becoming familiar with a handful of herbs. Intrigued, the medicine cat occasionally would offer Frecklekit the opportunity to supply her own mother with herbs (under their supervision). Much to her disappointment (an understatement, really) Cranewing could not be saved, but she did leave proudly.
- Her death brought more than just grievances, but resentment left unresolved. It began to boil to the surface, a patient snake finally ready to strike. There was no doubt at all where the horrid rumors came from. Who cared and who didn't hardly mattered to Saltstrike and Rushkit, livid from dishonor that now shadowed their mother's grave.
- At her vigil, Cranewing was renamed Tornwing. Frecklepaw appeared to be the most unaffected by the name, Saltstrike and Rushkit on the other hand clearly offended. Of course, the name carried no personal burdening on Cranewing's character, but simply added fire indirectly to their tempered hearts. Frecklekit had no opinions on the matter, still disheartened on the loss she felt was partly her fault.
- A moon later, the newly named Rushpaw still harbored much of his bitterness alongside Saltstrike.
- When Frecklekit became Frecklepaw, she was distinctively less excited than her brother, who proved to be ambitious from the get-go. Frecklepaw's mentor proved to be incredibly harsh, often leaving the young she-cat emotionally and physically exhausted by the time their training was done for the day. Unlike her brother, Frecklepaw struggled significantly keeping up with the rest of her peers. Where she lacked in physical strength however, she made up for in her quick-learning and intelligence, as well as a compassionate heart. Rushpaw had every strength she did not - combat, leadership, determination and ambition - all things that in her eyes seemed to slowly become corrupted after their mother died. His usual self, he encouraged Frecklepaw to be similar, offered her training her himself when her own mentor couldn't - but to no surprise she continued to struggle. Rushpaw in particular had a hard time accepting this, persisting that she is worth something, that she's capable of contributing something, that there's something she must excel at, but to no avail.
- Much of the time feeling defeated, Frecklepaw felt as though she had little outlet to talk to her family about this. Though it was evident among the other apprentices that she certainly didn't fit in. One night, both her brother and father approached her in private. And what was intended to see what was wrong, escalated into emotions that had once been well-kept, and animosity that seemed to drip like poison from their very fangs. Why she didn't have the same drive they did, they couldn't understand. Why she seemed to have hardly any indication of sadness since Cranewing's passing, they couldn't fathom. And why she had no motivation at all to give their mother even a tingling of their version of redemption, they refused to believe. Hushed whispers became a flurry of yowling and hissing, and Frecklepaw fled to the only place she felt any sense of security, the medicine cat den.
- It surprised her how willing she was to confess the things that had happened, but even more so was how well Gusthawk had listened to her that night. Not to mention providing her a place to sleep peaceably the same day. One day had turned into multiple, however, the stresses of family and training becoming a regular routine for the young cat. Typical Gusthawk made use of her visits, occasionally teaching her about a few of the herbs he possessed. Frecklepaw recalled back to the time when Cranewing laid numb within the medicine cat den, when Gusthawk had allowed her as a kitten to assist in her healing. She wasn't sure how much he knew how much that had helped her, to be able to do something... to be able to help. It was the most she had felt helpful and worthy of something in a long time.
- Frecklepaw showed promise in the small moments of time where she could sit down with Gusthawk - his theoretical approaches matched with her intuition proved to be a profitable match up, as well as her intelligence. There was no hesitation to answer yes when he asked her to become is apprentice, and newfound energy and motivation surged throughout the new medicine cat apprentice.
- Saltstrike and Rushpaw on the otherhand, had not been so keen on the idea. They insisted that she was simply running away from any guilt she possessed over Cranewing, that she was only trying to distract herself from grieving. Frecklepaw nearly said something she regretted on that final fight between her family, when Gusthawk intervened and quieted the two toms with a quick tongue. Though she appreciate the support dearly, Frecklepaw walked away from the argument wondering if perhaps her family was right about her.
- Currently, Frecklepaw has been under training for four moons now. She consistently is seeking out news ways and remedies to contribute to her clan.
