THE NINE CLANS

STORMCLAN

Located in open moorland, StormClan cats are usually on the smaller side to compensate for their open-ended territory. The bigger you are, the more easily spotted you are. Do not let their size fool you, these cats are quite resilient due to seasons of leaf-bares yielding little to no prey for sunrises at a time; they can easily survive on the scrawniest of fresh-kill if need be and have learned to ration when needed. When prey is in abundance, rabbits and other fleet-footed creatures are common across the moors. Pheasants and quail can also be found since they nest on the ground.

These cats are acutely attuned to the coming of rain and other storms as their territory is susceptible to some fairly threatening weather, especially in newleaf. StormClan cats are pretty excitable during this season, and, while they do not necessarily look forward to severe weather, they are always prepared and ready to face it. Since the camp is located in a gentle dip, there is a possibility of some flooding but it historically has decent drainage; in association, the StormClan cats build their dens from weaving together some of the scrubs and tall grass, making them non-permanent and easily rebuilt.

Being small and hard-to-find, StormClan cats excel in concealing their location. To both prey and intruders, they are often not seen and heard until they are right on top of their target. They are tough fighters and do not yield easily but would prefer to always have the element of surprise. Much like AmberClan, StormClan holds the value of their Clan’s individuality highly and do not accept help from outsiders easily; they do not like to appear weak or incapable.

PRESENT LEADER

WHISPERCLAN

Whilst sometimes miscounted due to the rumors surrounding them, WhisperClan should be considered brave to make their home on the face of a cliff. However, for them, it is simply life as usual being so close to a precipice. Their camp is situated within a kind of cave that has been hollowed out by erosion; it is home to many sub-caves that function as dens. Nests are constructed out of moss, leaf litter and twigs found on the ground-level of their territory; rocks can also function as borders to keep the contents in a neat bushel. Whilst in the heat of green-leaf the camp is relatively cool, in leaf-bare it can be viciously cold; WhisperClan cats are encouraged not to be shy about sharing body heat during these times.

Cats of WhisperClan, being located on a cliff face, are not picky about their prey; on the cliff itself pickings are slim. Sometimes a mouse or snake finds itself up there, but the most abundant prey, often even within the camp, are various types of beetles. However, there is a portion of WhisperClan’s territory that is actually on the ground where prey more common to the other seven Clans can be found. Along with this, as developed by Cyclonestar over the last few moons, the clan do aim to take down birds of prey. This is done by a unique way of baiting the birds, and ambushing in pairs or more to take them down for a meal suitable for multiple cats.

WhisperClan cats are historically very devout; they put a lot of stock into the concept of StarClan and heavily believe in their power. By association medicine cats are about as equally revered as leaders, and most of WhisperClan seeks their advice and counsel about as much as they would their leader as well. It is not uncommon for WhisperClan’s medicine cat to sit in on meetings shared between their deputy in leader. Rather secretive and withholding, WhisperClan cats are known for their reserve and discretion.

PRESENT LEADER

CURRENTCLAN PRESENT AND PAST RANKINGS

The Clan most associated with water would be CurrentClan, having the largest source of it within the eight territories. These cats have built their lives around the river, including their camp. A gully, perhaps having held a channel at one time, serves as home for CurrentClan; the cats have dug their dens out from its walls, and since the ground elevates towards the gully’s embankment, the dens themselves have decent drainage and water seldom seeps in. Over time, the past CurrentClan ranks have built a dam at the far side of the gully to prevent excessive flooding; as long as its maintained, the threat of flood is minimal.

Unlike AmberClan, CurrentClan has more dry land than one might think, and so prey varies from furry to scaled, respectively. Where these cats really shine on the hunting front, however, is in fishing. All apprentices are taught the art of hunting underwater prey; those in CurrentClan who are poor in this skill are not looked down upon necessarily, but they don’t have the most fans either. Because of their predominantly fish-filled diet, CurrentClan cats are notably sleek, trim and muscled when well-trained. In addition, many cats born to this Clan are more adapted for the water, including webbed feet and water-resistant fur.

CurrentClan was founded with a strong concept of the individual; those raised here are always allowed a voice or opinion. Stubborn leaders who do not listen to their Clanmates do not earn many true followers. While not necessarily as cunning or sneaky as AmberClan or StormClan, they are a fairly intelligent Clan; CurrentClan kits are known for and encouraged to ask many questions and seek answers. Like DuskClan, they do have a similar air of confidence to them that could be viewed as haughty by some.

RUNNINGCLAN PRESENT AND PAST RANKINGS

The area between DuskClan and StormClan is a bit of an oasis of sorts, lush fields of all types of wild grass and meadows of flowers are home to the cats of RunningClan. The camp itself is in the central part of RunningClan, where, over the moons, a clearing has been made by the paws of past RunningClan ancestors, ringed by gorse and thick grass. The centerpiece of the camp is a strange, sharp-jutting rock that the leader calls meetings from; other than this structure, there are no actual dens, RunningClan cats preferring to sleep under the open sky.

Rolling hills translated from StormClan’s moors lose their rather rocky traits and are excellent for the Clan’s favorite past time: racing. Living up to their name, these cats use racing as both a recreation and sport; it also is a crucial part in an apprentice’s training. Some cats focus on enhancing their speed so they can operate in short but fast bursts, while others go for endurance so they are able to run at a steady pace for a longer length of time. Most cats here are quite active souls, but they also take breathers to relax and commune with each other.

RunningClan is blessed with an abundant territory in most senses of the word; their land is rich with prey from newleaf to well into leaf-fall. Even in the cold of leaf-bare, there is more prey than any of the other territories, though TwilightClan would be a close second. Consequently, their fortune breeds an air of content within the Clan; infighting and spats are rare if ever. Though it is possible for the lazy RunningClanner to get a little plump now and again, their racing past-time keeps bodies rather trim and lean.
