44 MOONS • WARRIOR
TOM • HETEROSEXUAL
SHORT DESCRIPTION
longhaired brown tabby tom with amber eyes.
PERSONALITY
- Quiet – Oakwhisker is not a cat of many words around most cats. He tends to keep to himself and only speak up when it is asked of him. That is, at least, unless he’s around Sableheart or worried, in which case this particular trait can go out the window.
- Slicker for the Rules – Really, he’s not a cat who can easily be convinced to go against the rules as they are set. A firm follower of the warrior code and the leader’s orders, he doesn’t take well to doing something because it’s right and breaking them. He’s well known to remind others what the rules are as well.
- Doesn’t like to say no – Oakwhisker had a hard time turning down other cats. Far from a strong-willed feline, he tends to give in too easily, even if it goes against his very being, and he can be easily twisted into uncomfortable positions if Sableheart or others aren’t around to make sure he doesn’t.
- Expressive – In his body languages and in his words, in many ways Oakwhisker is easy to read and prone to having a rather poetic way of talking and moving. Even though he might not like saying no, he’s not a cat who goes out of his way to hide his feelings, unless it’s the feelings of those he cares about that are at risk.
- Prone to worrying – He might agree to come, he’ll be obviously hesitant and unsettled about it, but on top of that, he’s going to worry the entire way. Oakwhisker is prone to it, fussing about all the could happen events and results of those events, often to the point of ridiculousness.
- Helpful – Yet, he’s asked because he’s a cat who naturally wants to make himself helpful. He wasn’ts to bring back extra prey and make those around him feel wanted. He wants to be there whenever he can to guide those around him. Often enough, this manifests strongest in the company of Sableheart and herbs.
- Empathetic – Oakwhisker does have a big heart, and is well known to be a good cat to have heart-to-hearts with. For all his quietness, or in some cases constant worrying, he does have a good way of talking to others and putting himself on their level. A rather articulate tom, he knows what words to pick when the time comes.
- Protective – When he attaches to someone, there isn’t much chance of making him leave again. Loyal and protective, almost to the point of going too far, he’ll do anything for those who earn a special place in his heart.
- Impulsive – Some might think he’d be the opposite, given his worrying tendencies. However, Oakwhisker is in fact a cat who thinks very little when he goes to take action. Impulsive and quick-thinking, he jumps in first and deals with what happens later.
- Confident – Surprisingly, he actually is a rather confident cat. He believes in himself and his abilities, and isn’t necessarily a shy feline anymore. While certainly not outgoing either, he quietest does as he’s needed, and openly expresses his strengths and weaknesses when called for.
- Serious – Despite being Sableheart’s best friend, and prone to a little playfulness or silliness around the medicine cat, for the most part Oakwhisker is a serious cat. Helpful, sure, gentle, of course, however he takes life seriously and with dedication, and is happier to sit and watch or give tips on apprentice battle moves, rather than play games or mess around.
- Observant of nature – His expressiveness often come out strongest when it comes to the surroundings. He is always a cat who can observe the smallest things in the world around him, and will often describe it in a way that’s almost poetic. It can be a little daydreamy at times, but, it’s one of the things he does enjoy doing, watching and describing.
HISTORY
- Snakenose and Mudstep were never the strongest or most prominent warriors in StormClan. Snakenose was a shy, nervous she-cat, while Mudstep was notably clumsy when it came to most of his duties. Yet, the two did love each other, and unfortunately their kits bore signs of ill-health almost straight away.
- Oak-kit was a shy and nervous kit, certainly not in the best health, but by far in a better state than his brother. Mousekit would never quite reach the same level, and seemed to always be curled up at their mother’s side. Oak-kit would have rather done the same, but from early days, he had someone to draw him out in the form of Sablekit. The other kit was able to state bringing him out of his shell a little, and soon enough a strong bond had formed between them in what they lacked from their siblings.
- This only grew strongest as Mousekit finally passed away in the middle of the night. His parents were devastated, as was Oak-kit. But, the loss meant less to him, given his brother had always been a shell in himself. With Sablekit there for support, he adapted quickly, and continued progressing with his confidence, even though his mother’s health had started on a serious decline.
- Sablekit became Sablepaw, taking up station in the medicine cat’s den, which proved just fine for Oak-kit. They could continue their games and talks from there, without the worry of constant battle training or being out of camp to distract. It made the transition away from the nursery easier, as he spent more time seeking out his friend in the medicine cat’s den, and slowly venturing more into the clan itself.
- Soon enough, he was Oakpaw, placed under the care of a respected warrior who continued to coach along his confidence and skills. While he couldn’t spend as much time with Sablepaw anymore, that didn’t stop him seeking out the tom whenever he had the chance, leading to plenty of conversations about his lessons and Sablepaw’s herbs, even though it was far from Oakpaw’s interest. Yet, he feigned his interest, and no doubt Sablepaw did the exact same.
- At twelve moons, Oakpaw became Oakwhisker, and while he enquired into when Sablepaw would get his full name, the only answer was that it would be when he learned all Berryfoot could teach, a confusing enough answer in itself. But, Oakwhisker feigned understanding, and things continued on.
- It was an ongoing enough issue too, as Sablepaw remained such long into their moons. Oakwhisker did all he could to support his almost brother along the road. He’d get there eventually.
- At twenty-two moons, a border clash between StormClan and AmberClan has Oakwhisker dragged into the fray, somewhat to his panic. But, he did all he could to fight alongside his clan, and earned himself a few small wounds in the process. However, it was nothing serious, unlike the loss of Mousewhisker that came.
- Whitefoot, Sablepaw’s sister, called Sablepaw out like it was his fault that it had happened. While Sablepaw apologised as though he agreed, Oakwhisker stepped up, counteracting it. There was nothing Sablepaw could have done, he had nothing to apologise for. The injuries were too deep, that even Berryfoot couldn’t have saved him.
- Sablepaw finally became Sableheart, and within a few months, Berryfoot had passed on to StarCLan. As Whitefoot stormed and yowled as though it was Sableheart’s fault, Oakwhisker once again stood up to defend his brother from her tirade, sending the she-cat storming off.
- Time continued on and thankfully Whitefoot kept to herself, as Oakwhisker watched his mother’s life finally slip away to go join Mousekit. However, given the distance, it didn’t affect the tom for long, his father remaining as distant as he had been for most of his life. Oakwhisker continued on, working beside the clan and Sableheart as much as he could.
