TOM • HETEROSEXUAL
SHORT DESCRIPTION
a brown tabby tom with green eyes
PERSONALITY
- KIND. primarily above anything, cedarfur is a caring and kind individual. not cold at all, he's very much outwardly warm toward his clanmates and even those from other clans, although his clanmates are his priority. he adores every single one of them, and coming from such a big family has an incredible appreciation for community. he wishes to facilitate that community, to pay it forward, and as a result he's someone who's there to be the shoulder for others to cry on and to be a reliable rock when need be. he's not so shy about showing off that affection, either, whether it comes to his blood relatives or to those who happen to share dens with him. he'd do whatever he could to understand someone in a given situation, and he's not one who turns those in need away.
- STUBBORN. that doesn't mean he's compromising, or a doormat. in fact, quite the opposite; cedarfur is the type of tom to hold onto his beliefs with a firm grip and never let go. he can get quite argumentative when challenged on these core beliefs, whether they be about the warrior code, starclan, or about his clan. he's someone who will doggedly go after a goal or to convince someone of his side, and he stands his ground when someone attempts to turn him otherwise. it can lead him to even being blind to the flaws within his own arguments, because when he finds a concept he latches onto it. he's also naturally the type to think what he believes is right. he'll only change his view in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
- BOSSY. part of his previously ambitious nature, cedarfur is the type of cat who kind of orders others around, especially those younger than him as well as his sisters; he even has a habit of doing so with applewhisker, despite his sister being of higher rank than him. it's a trait of his that has toned down over the moons, and he is getting better with it, but he can't resist giving unsolicited advice and telling others what to do. it's just part of him believing that he has the right answers, not out of any kind of arrogance but because he thinks he knows what's best for everyone else, and rolls his eyes when he thinks that what they're doing is particularly mouse-brained. he's also nosy in this regard, too, pushing his way into other cats' business.
- ASSERTIVE. being bossy leads to him being very good at being able to defend himself within an argument. cedarfur is no pushover; he's a cat who knows what he thinks and he'll say it. at the same time, he's not passive aggressive about it, either; in fact, he advocates for himself and communicates rather well. he's not that shy about letting others know how he feels, especially those close to him, and although he doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, he's not going to spare them in favor of his own, should it come to that. he doesn't remain silent if he has an issue with someone, so if he's mad at you, you probably know already.
- PLAYFUL. that doesn't mean it's all seriousness and no fun and games with this tom. although he can certainly come off as preachy, he does love a good romp or two. a lot of his bickering with his sister nowadays has no heat behind it, and even when he was a kit neither of them fully meant it. he's not about to topple the queen off her throne, especially when he believes she fully deserves it. no, any sort of defiance he gives her is normally the kind that's done in jest, and applewhisker is very aware of it. he gives her a hard time, but he does it out of the love that he feels toward his family. he's not just this way toward those he's familiar with, either - he'll do it to anyone who's a reasonable target for his humor. he also playfights sometimes. shhhh.
- FAMILY MAN. cedarfur is "dad joke" central. he's someone who wants to make dad jokes someday. okay, maybe he also wants the other things associated with having a family and being a father, too. point is, he has a strong connection with his family and he wants to start his own someday. he's very much a lover and not much of a fighter, despite his bossy nature. he'd rather nurture rather than wage war, and he wants to raise kits to be like that. it's actually part of the reason he's not all that jealous about not being a deputy. after all, deputies likely have incredible difficulty tending to their kits while at the same time remaining a stone for their clan. in that regard, cedarfur certainly does not envy his sister.
- STRONG-HEARTED. even in dangerous situations, this tom is not one to quake very easily. give him a challenge, and he'll meet it, albeit in a less hasty way than he had when he was younger. still, he's bold and although not brash, he's certainly courageous. he has a strong heart that doesn't give up, and as a result it makes him very dependable. he's there for his family and he's easy to rely on because of how solidly he holds himself with unapologetic lack of compromise. he won't give up. he won't budge. and he certainly won't let someone tell him that his clan isn't worth every ounce of his blood.
- OVERPROTECTIVE. in fact, it's to the extent that it can be trouble for him and his relationships. you touch applewhisker, you die. perhaps not that extreme, but he's very cautious and wary of anyone who may potentially be interested in her as well as fallowcloud. he's also very quick to land a hate-filled blow on someone who dares to harm anyone close to him. he's not merciful about this, either. he loves them all to pieces, and that means he'll fight tooth and nail in order to keep them safe, even if it means costing his life. he does need to realize, though, that not every situation is a matter of life and death and he doesn't have to fight so hard for two warriors more than capable of holding their own.
- LOYAL. he's a cat who will stay with you. he's so unfalteringly loyal that he'd run whole entire mountains for his clan and for his leader if asked to. it's not a matter of foolhardiness; it's just that his clan is important and his top priority. the only thing greater than that is his family, his sisters, mother, and father, and his plethora of aunts, uncles, and his grandfather. he's also loyal to starclan, a bit of a devout, to the point that he can become disillusioned to a degree when bad things happen to the clan because he's so faithful that they'll pull through for him, and he's also the quickest to defend them if any other cat dares to badmouth them.
- SKILLED. and he knows it. he's absolutely aware that he's capable of a lot, although he's not so much a show off as he's simply confident. he's skilled and intelligent, and he's an active contributor to the clan. he hones his skills and keeps them sharp whenever he feels they're slackening, whether through evidence during a battle or because he's simply out of practice and he wants to make sure that he hasn't lost any of his skills. he's dedicated to keeping himself a valuable warrior, and it's likely that given this, he won't be the first of his group to retire. it's not as if he charges to battle recklessly, either; he thinks. he thinks, and that's what allows him, more often than not, to come out on top.
HISTORY
- It seemed like from the moment they were born, Cindernose and Hornetwhisker had been destined to be. The two of them became close quickly, and Cindernose found herself pregnant when she became twenty-nine moons old. It was to both her and Hornetwhisker's happiness that she gave birth to three healthy little kits, which they named Cedarkit, Applekit, and Fallowkit.
- It was very obvious that Cindernose and Hornetwhisker put their all into taking care of them, because the both of them gave them constant positive reassurances and Cindernose fussed over them like no tomorrow. Adventurous as Cedarkit was, he sometimes found it a little annoying, but his curling up close to her stomach when it was time to sleep was telling of the strong attachment he had to his mother. He also highly admired his father, and wanted to emulate him.
- It didn't take long for their personalities to really develop. Cedarkit and Applekit quickly brought on a rivalry with each other with equal desire to become a leader, and the both of them argued to the point that it would rile Fallowkit up. Often times, Applekit initiated arguments simply for the purpose of bothering their third sibling, and Cedarkit knew it, yet he easily took the bait anyway.
- Thankfully, apprenticehood dawned upon the three of them, and it resulted in a cessation of their arguments. For Cedarpaw, he'd been assigned to Mallowberry, a serene she-cat who didn't push him too hard. He excelled under her vigilant eye, and she was sure she didn't need to do much in order to push him forward, and indeed, Cedarpaw kept himself dedicated without too much nudging.
- The problem sprouted up when he and Applepaw both noticed that Fallowpaw argued often with her mentor. The two of them checked up on her, but she told them to stop getting involved, leading the two of them to exchange concerned glances. Thankfully, it seemed like later within Fallowpaw's apprenticeship that their relationship mellowed out, and Cedarpaw threw himself back into training, satiated by the idea that their sister was not being mistreated.
- Receiving his warrior name had been one of the proudest moments of his life, although he was a little disappointed by the name he actually received. While Applewhisker earned a proud one, he couldn't suppress his own pout when he found out that his own name earned became Cedarfur. How plain could you get? He didn't complain too much, though. After all, he was a warrior after hard work and dedication, and it was clear that his parents and mentor were all three very proud of him.
- Unfortunately, it was the only good news to happen during that time period. Only a few days later, Cindernose's mother met a terrible fate at the claws of a badger, and that caused Stonefang to react dramatically. It took the combined effort of the newly christened warriors to approach their grandfather, beseeching his attention after his behavior turned into a slippery slope for the worse, to the point that he was slowly killing himself just as she'd lost her life. They managed to talk him out of it, and he now resides peacefully within the elder's den, performing the self maintenance that he deserves.
- While the family continued to grow, Cedarfur watched it with his own sort of wistfulness. Although ambition still burned deep within his heart, he wanted to have a family of his own when he grew older, and he'd expressed as much. Sedgekit was a little put off of him, unfortunately, simply due to the fact that he was a bit too bossy, and the little kit wanted to play, not have some adult tell them what to do. Still, he tried to use the kit as practice for his own parenthood in the future while Applewhisker bonded with them.
- Unfortunately, Hornetwhisker's sister, Maplepelt, passed away from illness. That led to Applewhisker comforting him, and during that time Cedarfur told his sisters how much he appreciated and cared about them, unsure of when he would lose them, too. Even now, he commits himself to being openly warm and affectionate toward the both of them, even if he still butts heads with Applewhisker now and then, because he doesn't know what moment will be their last.
- During this time, he'd trained his own apprentice by the name of Hedgehogpaw. Hedgehogpaw was exuberant and a bit of a pawful, but Cedarfur got to let out his inner dad on him, and he was proudly attending his warrior ceremony when he received his official name, Hedgehogclaw. He could see his apprentice staring down at him proudly when his name was yowled out, and Cedarfur looked on with a kind of gleam in his eyes. It also reminded him that the requirement for a deputy was one apprentice, which meant that he would be a candidate, especially with Shadowstar beginning to grow weaker - not that he longed for the cat's death, but indeed he realized that this might be his chance for his kithood dream.
- Imagine his surprise when it is Applewhisker who's chosen, the one he'd fought with when he was little over dominance. Cedarfur is nothing if not a good sport, though, and he moved to congratulate her, although she appeared to be carrying a lot on her shoulders. He served that time to remind her that he'd be there for her, and if she ever needed someone to help her with absolutely anything, he was there. He would always be there.
