PERSONALITY
- grouchy; whiterabbit is an old cat, and she plays this to her advantage. in her elder years she has become increasingly grumpy whenever she doesn't get enough sleep, her bedding is wet, or an apprentice brings her a scrappy piece of food.
- sarcastic; whiterabbit always has a sarcastic quip to throw someone's way, a trait she's held onto ever since she was a kit.
- patient; despite her demeanor, she has great patience for those who wish to learn.
- experienced; whiterabbit is an experienced herbalist; in her many years of being amberclan's medicine cat she has memorized all of the herbs endemic to the territory, as well as those that grow outside the marshes.
- clever; a true amberclanner, whiterabbit is a cunning she-cat. her experiences and what shes witnessed in her long life are invaluable, and she is still sought out for advice by mothdust.
- bitter; even though she has embraced her medicine cat life, whiterabbit will remain forever bitter that she never got to be the warrior she wanted to be as a kit.
- lonely; since the death of her mentor and apprentice dustnose, and with only her sister malicefang left as her remaining immediate family, whiterabbit has often felt a sense of loneliness lingering underneath all other feelings.
- prickly; she's easily irritable, especially with the younger apprentices, or with malicefang.
- calm; surprisingly, she has a calm attitude. whiterabbit is able to keep a level head in a crisis and help collect the emotions of others around her.
- familial; whiterabbit has a strong sense of family. she never had any kits of her own, so she takes great pride in her grandnieces.
HISTORY
- whitekit was the eldest of sorrelfur and bearbreath's litter, and she acted as such from the very beginning. however, her authority as 'older sibling' was challenged often by leafkit, her sister.
- the two, despite being close, quarreled often with each other and were an argumentative pair. both wanting to constantly out-do the other. a rivalry of sorts grew between them, pushing them apart as their apprentice ceremony grew closer.
- both were named to adept warriors, so there was no lack of good training for either of them. however, whitepaw's apprenticeship was cut short one day when she had an accident. While chasing after a rabbit by the stormClan border, whitepaw's paw slipped and she fell forwards into a rabbit fen that had been hidden by the leafbare snow. she survived, but her right paw was left twisted and mangled - there was nothing that could be done about that. She was only 7 moons at the time.
- two options presented themselves to her - she could either join the elders in their den, or, she could take up the offer to become amberclan's medicine cat apprentice. the medicine cat at the time, frostface, was growing old and in need of an apprentice. desperately wanting not to join the elders so young, nor to be re-named by newtstar for her mangled paw, whitepaw decided to become the next medicine cat.
- her training was off to a rocky start at best. frostface was old and slow, and whitepaw lacked patience. the wizened tom worked slowly with her, helping whitepaw overcome the anger and resentment she felt over having her hopes of becoming a warrior taken from her. in time, she began to soften, and became more open to her new path.
- after her accident, her sister leafpaw and her grew closer again. they still retained their banter and grouchiness towards each other, but their jealousy had dissipated and they were able to forgive one another.
- as the moons passed, whitepaw grew into her role. frostface's patience and kindness had wore off, and it was time for whitepaw's full medicine cat name. when she met with starclan, she asked that she be named whiterabbit, as a memory of her accident and what lead her down the path she was on. they obliged. she was 15 moons at the time.
- for several moons the clan was at peace. at 28 moons old, frostface was called back to starclan, leaving whiterabbit as the sole medicine cat of amberclan.
- she filled the role surprisingly well, in spite of her fears that she would never live up to frostface's reputation. it was a nearly a year after frostface's death that whiterabbit felt ready enough to take on an apprentice of her own. dustpaw was named to her, an eager young tom with an excellent nose for herbs. he would later be named dustnose for this talent.
- at 43 moons a terrible tragedy struck the clan. addertail, the deputy at the time, as well as leafpelt and her apprentice, were caught off-guard by a stray, starved, and rabid fox. the deputy valiantly gave his life to defend the other warrior and her apprentice, but to no avail. his injuries were too severe, and whiterabbit could not save him. the apprentice passed away as well, and these two deaths were the hardest of whiterabbit's she's had to face. her sister was badly injured in the attack, and her temperament changed drastically afterwards. she became violent, lashing out towards her clanmates in anger. newtstar re-named leafpelt malicefang, for the overwhelming hatred and anger she now possessed. blinded by the fox's claws, malicefang was forced to retire to the elders den.
- when she was 62 moons old, whiterabbit retired to the elders den. malicefang was grateful for the company, and the two became as close as they were as kits once more.
- however, whiterabbit found herself coming out of of retirement briefly when dustnose suddenly passed, leaving his apprentice mothpaw with no mentor. for a few moons she trained the young cat, until she decided mothpaw was experienced enough to stand on her own.
- since then, whiterabbit has enjoyed her time as an elder. she spends her days with her sister, swapping old stories, or visiting the medicine cat's den for old times sake. she is very fond of both mothdust and dipperpaw, and treats them both like close kin. even though she has accepted her path in life, whiterabbit's one wish is to die fighting - to end her life as the warrior she never got to be.
