TORNADOSTAR OF CURRENTCLAN
35 MOONS • LEADER
TOM • BISEXUAL
SHORT DESCRIPTION
" bulky, smoke tabby tom with sharp yellow eyes. "
PERSONALITY
- he did not have the warrior name Tornadoroar for no reason: he has a commanding presence, brought all the more to attention by his sizable physical attributes. When he stalks through camp, eyes will follow.
- in addition, he is rather loud-spoken. Tornadostar's thundering voice and tone makes those of his audience bound to listen; this serves him well in both Clan meetings and Gatherings.
- it's no secret that Tornadostar is well-known for his influential nature. He swept through the rank of warrior and achieved the position of deputy at a rather young age. While his temperament isn't always everycat's favorite, it can be admitted by many that he tends to gain followers.
- many have learned to tread on eggshells around this quick-tempered tom. He can be unexpectedly offended at a moment's notice. However, though a cat on the receiving end might have an explosive wrath unleashed upon them, they would also find that Tornadostar's ire is rather short-lived and only in quick bursts.
- he tends to be on the naturally aggressive side of things, and will charge into most situations with fur bristling, teeth bared and claws sharp.
- when things don't go Tornadostar's way, he tends to throw a fit. Much like his passionate anger, it has a way of dissipating almost as quickly as it had arrived.
- in relation, he can be both destructive and self-destructive, respectively. If a decision or situation goes awry due to his own fault, he will often go through the seven stages of grief over even the smallest of mishaps. Alternatively, if another cat is responsible, Tornadostar can often jump to the worst possible conclusions and will frequently decree severe punishments.
- despite this rather acting-without-thinking trait, it is more common that Tornadostar will recognize when he has been phenomenally unfair and return to rectify things as needed.
- he is a very active soul, and when he has nothing to do or is stuck in camp it has a way of fuelling his destructive and aggressive tendencies. Tornadostar is a cat that does well when his mind, and body, is occupied.
- though it may seem that Tornadostar is incapable of handling chaotic or tough situations, he proves to be quite adaptive when all is said and done. He may struggle with himself and his vices, but in the end his versatility and aptness to adjust to new elements always seems to shine through.
HISTORY
- as fierce and powerful as their names denote, Hurricanewind and Typhoontail were a whirlwind couple that took their Clan by storm. They both had strange attributes being from an admittedly passive group like WhisperClan, but it would seem they were a match made in StarClan.
- it was not long before the two were due to have a litter. Soon, three kits would be born: Firekit, Tornadokit and Cyclonekit.
- between the three brothers, Tornadokit proved to be the most active and the most difficult to handle. As he aged, he became quite the havoc-wreaker; he was never in the right place at the right time, and for a kit of WhisperClan, this could be quite dangerous given their camp's treacherous location.
- whilst Firekit became much more serious and discerning, Cyclonekit passive and unreadable, Tornadokit became restless. Their parents natural busy-bodies, kit-sitters were often left at the trouble-seeking kits mercy.
- a particular incident on the Jagged Path that almost got Tornadokit and Cyclonekit killed would be a pivotal point for him; staring up into the wide-as-the-moon eyes of his brother as he desperately clung to Tornadokit to keep him from falling through tree-lengths of open air to the ground below is an image he would never forget, one that began his conviction of WhisperClan.
- "What kind of rock-brains make their camp in the side of a cliff?" was a phrase frequented by Tornadopaw soon after the near-death experience. They had been made apprentices a moon later than Firepaw for their excursion.
- everything about his home Clan began to drive him towards a growingly irritable and combative demeanor, and his contempt grew alongside it.
- on top of it all, it seemed the relationship with their parents was next to nonexistent. Whilst they were there, they weren't like any parents Tornadopaw expected; once Hurricanewind was free of the nursery, she and Typhoontail were as busy as ever.
- with mother and father not particularly interested, and Firepaw increasingly more and more focused on himself and his apprentice duties, Tornadopaw felt WhisperClan's only saving grace was his younger brother, Cyclonepaw.
- the two may have been opposites on the personality spectrum, but Tornadopaw felt more attached to him than anycat else.
- his episodes of lashing out were slowly dismissed over time, mumbles of "that's just how he is," and "he'll just get over it anyway" made him more and more vengeful and a thorny apprentice to be around. Each sunrise he longed to be away from those undermining him and just be with his more placid counterpart.
- it was like Cyclonepaw understood him, even if he didn't say it out loud, he didn't need to! His attentive ear meant the world to Tornadopaw, and so the young tom thought, surely, he would approve of the dawning of a new idea.
- feeling less and less like he belonged, Tornadopaw set to run away. Their territory in the Bottomland bordered the much more promising lands of CurrentClan; he pictured their fresh, flowing river and their green grass. Green! He longed to see it, anything but the cold, grey stone of their dens.
- he convinced Cyclonepaw to journey with him one moonhigh, all the way to the border. His brother, for once, had been strangely vocal, insisting that they go home. Tornadopaw promised him that it would be worth the trouble that they would be getting in, mostly, because they wouldn't have to worry about punishment once they were safely within CurrentClan's territory.
- for once, the silence that followed was uncomfortable.
- Cyclonepaw's next outburst disturbed him, and the steady wedge being placed between him and WhisperClan severed the final tie binding him there. It seemed not even his brother, the one he thought really got him, took him seriously.
- Tornadopaw fled to CurrentClan, turning tail on his brother in hopes of a new and better home with cats that weren't inherently suicidal because they chose to live on a cliff.
- it wasn't long before he was found by a patrol come the dawn, and, since he reeked of WhisperClan, they first accused him of trespassing, but Tornadopaw assured that, no he was here to join them.
- the sharp thorn of betrayal eased somewhat as he was led to CurrentClan camp, refusing to return to his own Clan. There was a certain pleasure of having all eyes on him, especially since he had been so dismissed within WhisperClan, even if those gazes were full of questions and mistrust.
- the leader at the time, Willowstar, was in all due respect positively ancient in looks and in values. He qualified to be an elder, but no cat could get him to actually retire. His deputy, Barracudafang, did most of the actual decision-making. Opposed to his senile superior, he was not passive nor did not let anything slip his notice.
- Tornadopaw forced himself to be brave, appear like he knew that this was exactly what he wanted. He explained to the deputy his home was and would never be his real home, not with the overhanging air of unimportance that surrounded him at all times. It was hardly a thing a young cat would normally speak of, and so, Barracudafang, unusually moved, accepted Tornadopaw into the CurrentClan fold and put the apprentice beneath his care.
- at 9 moons old, he would normally be quickly approaching warriorhood. But, in a whole new Clan he would have to learn new set of skills, how to navigate a new territory and, in addition, earn the respect and trust of his new Clanmates.
- whilst he felt alienated in WhisperClan, he was disappointed that also felt that way in CurrentClan, though more understandably. Some though, were beginning to grow familiar towards him and spare him pleasantries and even go as far as to encourage him whenever he was down. It was a welcomed change from his old life.
- at 13 moons, Tornadopaw became Tornadoroar. Oh, if his family could see him now, fitting right into his new Clan more and more. His mentor, Barracudafang was impressed with his progress and that the cat, so used to being raised on solid, albeit elevated, ground, took to swimming and fishing like any CurrentClan-born cat.
- he received his first apprentice a moon later, a quiet, shy she-cat by the name of Minnowpaw. It took some getting used to, her tendency to shrink away at the first sign of him getting angry or impatient. It was a balancing act, but training Minnowpaw was the first of many steps in his own personal growth.
- Tornadoroar had barely been thinking of his old life, up until he was selected to go to the next Gathering. Part of him missed his family, but a much larger part assured him that he had a new family. When he saw Cyclonepaw and Firepaw, both most likely warriors now, he turned his nose and stayed with his CurrentClan. That would show them.
- sadly, the coming leafbare would claim several lives including the previously thought infallible Barricudafang. Tornadoroar was particularly grief-stricken, his old mentor having been the one to first welcome him into CurrentClan.
- the losses for CurrentClan, however, didn't stop there. It wasn't but 10 moons after the naming of their new deputy, Slushspots, was promoted to leader as Willowstar's age finally claimed him.
- as Slushspots became Slushstar, it was time to name a new deputy. Beneath the light of the rising moon, Tornadoroar became deputy of CurrentClan. He could hardly believe it! It was an accomplishment he would have never dreamed of in WhisperClan. Hearing the cheer of "Tornadoroar, Tornadoroar" lifted his spirits higher than ever.
- his first Gathering as deputy came as a shock, because he learned that his younger brother, Cyclonestep had also been named deputy some time ago, before Tornadoroar, and was a kind of prodigy. The news only fueled resentment in him.
- the entry moons were hard on him, the duties of a deputy especially demanding, and there was a portion of his Clanmates that were waiting, expecting him to slip up. He would show them that being born from a different Clan made no difference.
- not to mention, he had to be better than his brother.
- his fourth Gathering as deputy fell under the category of worst moments in his life, ever, when Cyclonestar approached him before the meeting started. The gall! Had he come to gloat? That he had made it to leader before him? Tornadoroar could feel his rage grow inside him like a storm in his belly, but no—he was coming to say that their eldest brother, Firewhirl, had died in a terrible accident, a fall.
- the only thing that kept Tornadoroar from yowling to Silverpelt above was the full moon truce. WhisperClan had failed Firewhirl just like they had failed him. Contempt boiled to hate.
- a moon later, his next Gathering he would step to stand beside his fellow leaders as Tornadostar, as Slushstar had tragically drowned in a flood that the wet season brought. He could not help but stare into Cyclonestar's eyes as he delivered the news, not without a hint of triumph. This will show them.
